Where I live (NYC suburb) kids parties are incredibly expensive. For my child’s 4th birthday party, we are having it at a kids party place (think dancing/games/ice cream) and having about 20-25 kids. We are also catering in food for the adults, a theme cake, party favors and glow sticks/glow jewelry. In total the party will be about $700.

Is this ridiculous for a 4 year old’s party? Most of my child’s friends have way more lavish parties costing well over $1000. I can’t wait until my kid is older and can just have a few friends sleep over and order pizza!

How much do you usually spend on your kid’s party? Do their friends have similar style parties?
