Underweight?

I’m 23 and my fiancé and I are ready for a baby. We have been trying for at least 6 months but no luck. I wanted to start a family fairly young due to being most fertile at this age and whatnot but here I am not getting pregnant. My Gynecologist suggests I wait to have kids because I’m too young 🙄 She also said I’m probably not even ovulating because I am underweight 😓 do any of you have experience with this? Any advice for me?

I’m 5’3” and weighed between 100-105lbs pre pregnancy, I didn’t have any issues.  I’d wait the full year of trying before worrying about problems.

6 months really isn’t that long. They say you should wait at least a year. When I lost a lot of weight I didn’t get a period for 4 months, my dr said it’s cause I was so lean like body builder lean and that I probably wouldn’t ovulate either. 
But here I am 30 pounds heavier and 3 years later and still not pregnant!

Your GYN seems like a bitch lol, no offense. It’s not right of her to try and talk you out of wanting a family just because she feels you’re too young. Also, while 112lbs may be a little underweight, I don’t think it’s too much to prevent ovulation, especially if that’s your normal body type. That being said, I feel like most doctors won’t discuss fertility options until you’ve been trying at least a year unless you’re an older age. Regardless, you should get a second opinion. This doctor doesn’t seem like they have good bedside manner anyway 😕 also I suggest using ovulation test strips, which you can buy in bulk on amazon. I would start using them the day you finish your period at the same time every day until you get a positive so you can pinpoint when and if you ovulate. Best of luck to you!

You definitely aren’t young. I’m 24 and my son will be two next month. 
Weight won’t factor if you’re ovulating or not. Doctors always seem to put it down to weight and it’s actually really annoying. 
I would suggest getting a second opinion but in saying that it takes a healthy couple at least a year to conceive their first child. 
I would also suggest getting ovulation tests that way you’ll know for sure if you ovulate or not.

My mom was 89 lbs when she got pregnant with me. It may throw off ovulation a few days for some people and some people it won’t. For me personally I use ovulation strips to track to know my body better. I did that for 3 months so I could an accurate reading. Then after 3 months I tried to get pregnant but stopped cause my ex and I broke up.
