Breaks when breastfeeding?
Hi! So, I started a job a few weeks ago. I only get 20 minutes to pump (It’s a 4 hour shift, but my lo eats every 2/3 hours)
Anyways, my HR talked to me about taking “two” pumping sessions. And told me how she only pumped twice in a 9 hour shift. I tried explaining to her that I had to find someone to unlock the office where my pump was in and then they had to find me a room. She had her own office, and didn’t have to worry.
I’ve been limiting my time to 8-10 minutes of pumping because my break starts the moment I walk away my department and it takes time to go upstairs, go back down if no one’s there and find someone.. And rinse my pump. But I’m starting to get a clogged milk duct and I’m so so scared of getting masitis. I feed my son before leaving and right after.
Could anyone give me any tips on what to do?
I’ve thought about asking for a little longer and explain (to my manager) why. See if I could clock out for the break and stay a little longer.
