What are everyone’s thoughts, opinions , knowledge on delayed cord clamping??? Just curious!

My hospital does it automatically unless there's a reason the cord needs to be cut right away.

It’s good for baby to receive cord blood until the cord stops pulsing. It increases your baby’s blood volume by a lot.

Honestly don’t know enough about it. If my doctor in the moment said it’s the best thing we can do for baby do you want to I would say yes but if doctor isn’t saying to do it. I’m doing things the way they say

Why wouldn’t anyone do it, if it all it does is benefit their baby? It allows a extra blood to pass through to bubs increasing their iron by heaps, setting them up for months to come

I told my midwife I want a birth where the cord will be attached for as long as I say so. I plan to give the okay for cutting the cord once I actually birth the placenta. it can take up to an hour or so, theres no rush :)

We will be doing delayed clamping. It can increase the babies blood volume by 25% and help to prevent them from having anemia in their first year of life. 
It also benefits mom because the placenta holds that blood. If you let it go to the baby, the placenta is smaller and easier to deliver. 
From what I’ve read, 3-5 minutes or until the cord becomes more white and stops pulsating is a good length of time to wait. 
Delayed clamping can also give the baby just a little extra time to begin breathing on their own, which is needed for some babies. 
I don’t have info on benefits of traditional clamping. Definitely do your own research and make the best choice for you and your baby!

My doctor says it is very good for baby. I wanted to do it with my first (2years ago, different doctor) but I was only in active labor for 31 minutes and when the baby came out, I didn't have a doctor there, just a first semester resident and she cut it without asking. This time, I asked about it maybe a week ago and my doctor said that he automatically does it, but for only a minute. I want to do like ten minutes, so I am going to ask him again a little closer to go time and hope he agrees.

My doctor said they recommend 60-90 seconds if I remember correctly and that’s how long she waits to clamp. I watched her with my last.

My midwives highly suggest delayed clamping and thats our plan too. I'm also going to donate any cord blood thats left

my doctor highly suggested it!! so all going well we will be doing it, that way she gets all the blood from the placenta and it’s a little extra time to soak it all in before she has to get her tests and measurements done! (my boyfriend has a heart, thyroid and lung condition so she has to have extensive testing done to make sure she’s okay 😅)
