Baby shower or buying “essentials” now?

So I don’t know whether I should wait until after my baby shower to buy pacifiers, bottles, shampoo, a tub, wipes, diapers, etc. what are you all doing?

I’m really itching to go buy all the essentials but I’m making myself wait until after the baby shower. I’m really hoping that someone decides to buy the tub & put all the essentials inside of it like a gift basket. 😅 then I will have everything I need!!

With my dd1 I bought all the big stuff; crib, changing table, rocker, dresser, etc. 
I made a registry with literally everything else I wanted and needed (and then some shit I didn't actually need cause I was a FTM 😂) and I put aside the full amount of every single item I had on my registry and ordered the remaining stuff two days after 😂 
My UPS driver HATED ME. But it was wonderful 😂
I didn't want to be disappointed by not getting what I needed and then being screwed since I was 34 weeks at that point. 
This time around I have no intentions of a baby shower, and both my babes are girls so I just bought what stuff I needed and called it a day. 
My MIL just texted me asking what else I needed and I'm like uhhhhh 😂😅 
We won't be adding on to our house until end of summer or fall when I'm back to work so it was pretty easy really. 
We have a pack and play for the living room, a bassinet for our room (where she'd be sleeping for the first four or five months regardless) and she will share my dd1's changer or I'll use the changer on her pack and play.

My shower is next weekend. I'm waiting to buy anything until after so I don't accidentally get what others will get us. For a few weeks now I've been wanting to shop and start organizing, but I've been holding off until after the shower.

If things are on clearance, I get it. Walmart had avent pacifiers for $2 today so I bought two sets and they had some cute onesies for $2 a piece. I am also guilty of buying headbands and super cute outfits. My crib is bought and put together and we got our travel system for $125 so we are only buying things that are on sale or “must haves” at this point.

From what I've read online (pinterest, here, etc.) People will typically load you up with shampoo and soap etc for the baby. If there are specific pacifiers and thing you would like go ahead and get it (you can always return it). But I say wait unless your shower is right before you're due

I bought a couple of travel ones for my hospital bag in case baby comes early, but waiting until after the shower to see what else I need to pick up last minute

Wait! You’ll get so much from your shower. Plus if it PMs your registry and you don’t get it, most places give you a discount on the remaining items of the registry
