Direct to you baby shower gifts?

Question about baby shower gift giving: is anyone giving their guests their information so that gifts being bought online will ship directly to you? In other words:
Guest: buys gift on amazon->bills to themselves->ships to you with info you provide
I’m just wondering if people are doing that at all. Seems convenient instead of lugging a gift to a shower to just send directly to the parents. And they’ll still know who gave it.

I actually did this for people and literally only 3 items were purchased off of our actual registry and the rest were gift cards...not even gift cards from the place we registered. Guests seriously don’t realize how much work you put into a registry and they really don’t care....very frustrating and a complete waste of my time. I hope you have a better experience though.

I think my registry had the option for people to do it but no one did. Most people like to watch you open the present and wouldn’t get to do that if it was sent to your house.

My registry has the option. We gave the option, especially since most of our family lives out of state. So far, I'd say about 80% of the gifts purchased from the registry have been shipped directly to us

I just got a couple gift in the mail (from amazon) and have no idea who they are from so I wouldn't count on it

My brother said amazon made him do this. Still need to look into it because I'd like people to have the option to ship things to your own house.

Yes, but I live in Alaska and my baby shower was in NH. They knew it would be difficult for me to lug home, so it was awesome

If you have the registry,  and they go off it it's shipped directly to you without needing info

Yes, we knew a lot of people wouldn’t be able to go but still wanted to feel included (like his brother and close family). A few of our friends won’t be able to go either. We’ve already been sent things! It’s exciting.

I had it as an option on my registry. Only one person that attended my shower shipped directly to me. But many people that weren’t able to attend the shower sent gifts directly to me from the registry.
