How can I stop my fabric from fraying!?

Hi all!
I made a fabric tutu for my daughter and by the end of the day there were so many little strings coming off. 
This is my first time making one so I had no idea this would be an issue. 
Any tips!? (Picture for attention.)

Do you have a serger?
Sewing machines are great but sergers bind the edges keeping them from fraying.  
My wife and I ran a clothing line for awhile.  Fold the edges over to create a hem, and serge, don't sew.

Cutting the edge of the fabric with pinking shears (the zig zag scissors) will keep it from fraying. Or finish the edge by hemming or using an overcast stitch.

With ribbon you use a lighter to burn off any frays and like seal the edges. Maybe that works for fabric too?

Sew the cut edges.

If you don't have a surger or pinking shares turn the settings on your sewing machine to zizzag stitch length to 2 and sew as close to the ends as possible..

Fray stop or fray check are products you can put on the cut edges of fabric to stop them fraying. If you do that you shouldnt have to sew the edges.

Lighters do work you just have to be very careful not to burn it too much or for too long. That's the quickest way, otherwise stitching works and lasts
