Am I crazy??

Question

I don’t get along with my son’s grandma very well. Just some stuff about her calling me a bad mother and questioning literally every thing that i do with my son.
She loves my son, and I’ve let her watch him a few times, but i just haven’t needed anyone to recently. 
Yesterday she randomly texted me saying that she wants to pick him up for a few hours because she misses him. 
No problem, I say I’m planning on taking him to the park on Sunday (and invited her), and that I may need a babysitter Saturday. 
This morning I texted and said that I don’t actually need a babysitter, but we’re excited for the park and when does she want to go. 
Now she just randomly texted and said “I don’t want to go to the park with everybody (just me and my ONE year old son), I just want to pick him up and be alone with him for a little while.” 
I’m just getting a weird vibe, am I crazy?

You’re not crazy but she did raise your husband and if your husband trusts her then I would let her take him. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to spend some quality time with her grandson. But then I do not know her and mama knows best.

You’re the mom too bad. I feel like we still have these protective hormones running through us. If you don’t want her to be alone with your son then don’t let her. He’s too little still. Whatever you decide, don’t feel bad over it.

I don’t think your crazy but I don’t think she is weird either. I get what she is saying. She wants to spend quality time with her grand child. The more people in a kids life that love them, the healthier emotionally that child will be. It’s the best thing for the child to have people other than mom and dad who are there who love them. I’d suggest putting your feelings to her aside and encourage the best relationship possible. I’m not being sarcastic, but research the effect extended family love and availability has on the developmental, cognitive, and emotional effect on children. It will blow your mind.

I don’t understand why she needs to be alone with him.   Like you miss him and want to spend time with him so come over for a visit with him in your home with his things and sit and play and hold him. There is no reason for her to take him and have him to herself unless of course you needed her to babysit.  I don’t let anyone take my baby. I’m her mother and I make the rules and if you don’t like it then too bad for you. Even when I need a babysitter, My mother or MIL come to my house.

It's a tricky one. You're not crazy however I can easily see how close family would like to spend time alone with the kids. My sister drove me mad when I had my youngest because she was desperate to take him and him not be stuck to me like glue lol. I trust her implicitly but I wasn't comfortable as he was still so young. Do what you're comfortable with. Maybe they can have a weekly play date that in turn will give you some free time?

Set boundaries with her you guys don't have to like each other but your son should be able to have his grandma in his lif.. with that being said as long as you feel she will keep him safe I don't see why not. Try not to sweat the small stuff

Just says it's park or nothing.
You're the mom, you call the shots.
I wouldn't let my own grandma or mother ever be alone w my son because I know they'll be a piece of shit soon as noone is watching.
My mum made this mistake with her MIL who poisoned all her children against her but oh never mind their dad who's a deadbeat cheating ass and never wanted anything to do w his kids ever and keeps making more with different women. 🙄 Her kids from this marriage are all fucked up and ended up doing drugs. They're now in their 40s and still didn't get over their childhood. 
Not that my mum was anywhere close to ideal either.  Gran hated the kids because she hated mum and endlessly did whatever possible to fuck their life. Which she pretty much succeeded. 
She still does the same shit to this day and trash talk my mum to anyone and everyone who will listen.
So yeah tell her to start behaving and respecting you if she wants to see her grandson at all.
Be prepared to follow through if she doesn't comply.
And if your husband isn't going to support you in that decision honestly I'd leave. I wouldn't want my child being around a toxic person just because he's a mummy's boy 🙄 he can grow up or go home and live w his mum.
Supervised visits at best.
