Were they both still high school students at the time? I think that makes a difference. If he had already graduated and was dating a student that young, I’d be more concerned than if they were both students. I graduated with a guy who turned 18 at the end of junior year. None of us really noticed he was a year older since he fit right in and had been with us since kindergarten.

My best friend’s husband is 4 years older than her, they started dating at 16 and 20. It really bothered me when we were younger because he had already graduated. But we got older, I got over it and now we get along great. And they got married in 2017 after being together for 6 years

My husband and I got together in July 2011. He turned 18 in June (the month before we got together) and I was 14 until September 2011. We are 3 years and 3 months apart. I can understand people who say “he’s 18, that’s illegal” BUT... Not once did my husband ever touch me inappropriately and not once did he force me to do anything I didn’t want to do. We met at church, and he and my dad were super close from the start. He came from a cruddy family life and my dad took him under his wing. If I wouldn’t have went out with him when we were young, I wouldn’t have been with the most amazing, caring, and sweetest man in the world. 
Here we are, 8 years later, 22 and 25, TTC our first baby and living the dream. We got engaged in 2016, bought a house and got married in 2017, and now trying to have a family together. Every situation is different, so as someone who was in this situation, maybe you should take a look at what his relationship was like.
Also- it’s in his past, so there’s no reason to bring it up and get mad at him for it now. Even if it wasn’t a great relationship, everyone makes mistakes and that’s how we grow. I wouldn’t make him feel bad about something that happened years ago.

Was he still in high school? I was 14 and dated a senior who was 18. Was not ever anything serious, we didn't even do more than make out. I think more info would be needed to make a judgement.

Alll in all, yes. But after thinking about it, that's just 4 years apart and I'm 6 years apart from my fiance. So when my fiance was 18, I was almost 12😂😵 not that we were dating then but it's weird to think about. I was 17 when we got together and he was 24. 14 is too young to be with an 18 year old. The timing is off.

No because more than likely it wasn’t just last year but YEARS ago. I know someone (she’s in her mid thirties now) who dated a 20 year old when she was 15. Her parents approved it and his parents approved it because they were family friends and at the time (late 90s early 2000s) it was okay to date just nothing sexual. It wasnt as taboo as it is now. 
It was a different time. My dad is 4 years older than my mom. They dated when she was 14 and he was 18. They stayed together and got married. Now they’re divorced but my step mom is 4 years younger than my dad. No one batted an eye when he was 18 and no one bats an eye now. Plus, it’s in the past. He didn’t go to jail did he? Did he rape her? Was she in harms way with him? No? Then leave it alone there’s nothing to be bothered about. 
It was a different time (most likely). Things were different. You can’t make judgements NOW when things were different THEN. You can look in hindsight, but you shouldn’t be that bothered by it considering times have changed and it’s not like you can do anything about it now. More than likely it was still acceptable back then. Might not be now, but he’s not 18 dating a 14 year old now, is he?

I think of it as, the age difference might seem to be a lot and people like to judge and what not but if you think later on as in if you are 30 and he is 34 or 20 and 24. No one is going to judge you guys for that age difference then instead of now.

Nope when I was high school everyone seemed to agree that the seniors who went after the freshman were creeps but it also didn't happen a lot so yeah I would say he should have known better.
