Did I go about this the wrong way?

So for the longest time my boyfriend and his cousin seem to not know how to clean the toilet after using it. I decided to buy a toilet brush and no one got the memo.

My boyfriend once stated that he doesn't make a mess so he's never needed a brush. I admit I should have said something at the time. We just had a baby and alot of the time I rush out the bath to tend to her and usually go back and clean it. Sometimes I forget to do it. Today he's complaining about his cousins hair in the bath and says it applies to be too cos a "Couple times" I've left the bath unclean. I let him know that he does it too and he tries to justify it saying he had to rush out to work, well I have to rush to our crying baby and its the last thing on my mind.

Anyway I totally forgot about this morning when I went in the bathroom after him and had to clean the toilet. I walk into the room he's in and he picks at something I'm wearing. So I turn around and say “since we are picking at things, why don't Yall clean the toilet, I brought the brush why didn't you use it earlier?! “. His response is 'I don't look back, why do you feel the need to pick at something just cos I did'. The same guy that claims he looks back and sees the bath before he cleans it. Anyway I told him that the toilet thing always gets forgotten, it's not something that's stuck of my mind but he reminded me to bring it up. I was honestly dying to tell him about himself this time around, he's so damn miserable sometimes and I have to remind him that he makes mistakes just like everyone else.
