Is Clomid for me?

A little bit of a back story- was on Lo Loestrin Fe for a little over a year and haven’t been on it for a year now. Went on it for the sole purpose of fixing my irregular periods. After I got off it periods were all out of wack again. Would sometimes go months without a period or sometimes would just get really light spotting for a couple days instead. My husband and I have been ttc religiously for about 3 months now and hasn’t worked yet. I’m thinking about going to the gyno to get looked at and make sure everything is fine, would it be a good idea to ask about Clomid?
