Going back to work?

Question

I am a soon to be first time mom. Due March 31st. I'm afraid, just knowing myself, that I won't wanf to return to work after after my maternity leave. Just who I am as a person I don't feel like it's going to be an easy transition. How hard was it for any other new mama's out there? Do any of you know of any "work from home" ideas that don't involve pyramid schemes?

I was the same with my first. And I will be again with this baby. Its hard to leave them for work! But I will admit I was so excited to have my typical social interactions back. Caring for a newborn doesn't leave you time for much adult conversation. And what conversations I did have with my hubby were largely baby related. So it was somewhat refreshing when I got back to work.

I was so ready to go back to work after both mine were born. I took off 15 weeks with the first and 13 weeks with the second. Each time I was so excited to get back to work. Everyone told me how hard it would be but it was a hug, a few kisses, an ‘I love you’, and I was out the door. No tears from either of us. I’m happiest when I get to use my brain and really think and analyze things. As much as I love my littles, being home with them didn’t do that for me. It was bittersweet for sure, but not like this emotional train wreck like some moms said it would be.

Having someone reliable that you fully trust helps to ease your mind when you go back to work. It’s hard but eventually you transition. I was lucky to go back a week then have a couple weeks off before going back for good. Now I’m a SAHM and even though it’s nice getting out of the house I’m happy I don’t have to leave my babies. VIP kid, babysitting, subbing, those are a few jobs I did to work from home or work flexible schedule.

I’m a teacher so when my first came out of Feb (due end of March tho 😢) I took the test of the school year off and thankfully had summer. When August hit and it was time to go back I was a hot mess with nonstop crying. Thankfully the first couple of days were professional development before the students came back and my hubby brought the baby by each day for me to love on. So that really helped me transition back to work

I was worried about that as well. I actually talked to my boss about just coming back 3 times a week and we worked out a plan to make it happen. I feel so much better about everything now knowing I will be home with my baby 4 out of the 7 days of the week.

My work is offering to let me work at home as long as I come in once a week. I’m just an administrative assistant, so nothing special. And they said I can take the baby with me the day I do have to go in to the office. I don’t know what your job is but maybe see if they can compromise with something like that?
