Long post... need someones opinion

On December 14th my father in law passed away. It was a long and drawn out process but he is in a better place. My husband left his job in March to help take care of good doing father. Now before he passed him and my husband had an idea to buy used cars and clean them up and flip them. They wanted to do about 5 cars before he passed. Buying up as they went. Both spent many years in the car business and were excited to spend time doing this together. The money from the car sales were to benefit my husband and I who have our first baby due in April and my mother in law who hasn't worked in a few years. Now they were only able to buy one car. My husband finally got it all fixed up and cleaned ready for sale. They were not able to get it done quicker as my father in law passed quicker then we thought. They doubled the money in the sale. Now at christmas my mother in law told me she wanted all the money to go to us for the baby. As I have been the only full time wage earner for the last year. Well when my husband walked in the door from selling this car she took half the money. She didn't do any of the work. My husband has been doing all her housekeeping for her home. Even scrubbing her toilets and house/dog sitting. Even through new year's. No thank you no payment for his work like she said she was. She still had the nerve to take half the money. I'm just floored. Now you should all know this is his step mother. My father in laws third wife. I just don't know how to take this situation. Do I confront her? Give her fuel to take badly about us to others for asking why she kept all the money. Or just let it slide. She always takes takes takes from people and gives little back. We were counting on this money for paying bills when I go on leave.
