Shortened cervix, 1 cm dilated at 28 weeks

So.. I’ve been informed my cervix has shortened to almost nothing. I’m dilated approximately 1- 1.5cm. An ultrasound revealed my membranes have begun to descend, but I haven’t noticed loosing my mucus plug. I have noticed a little more moisture than usual. I’ve been put on strict bed rest for the past 2 weeks and told I will not leave the hospital until I give birth. The suspense is killing me. I’ve been told I could remain at 1- 1.5 cm dilated for days, weeks or even months. Has anyone remained dilated with no cervix for months? Also my entire family lives out of state and I would like my mom to be present for the birth of my first child. What should I expect?
