How much does 5 mo sleep? Is there a growth spurt now?

My in laws don't let him sleep once he startles or wakes up. This happens often as he moves about in sleep or due to noise disturbances. They immediately pick him up and start with the loudest toy from his stash and keep saying he doesn't need to sleep now. Why can't they let him sleep? He has already gone down in percentile since we started living together...
Ok, so how many hours does your 5mo sleep? And how about 5mo growth spurt? What are the signs?

My boy sleeps about 11 hours at night (although he wakes up to eat 4-5 times in that time). And then he spends about 2 hours napping in the day. So about 13 hours total, which I think is on the low-normal end. 
I would definitely have a serious conversation with your in laws. Whether they're disrupting his sleep a little or a lot, they need to stop

Tell them to keep their hands off your son until you tell them otherwise. 
And then tell them you’ll break their fingers if they continue to do so. 
Kidding. But seriously, talk to them and let them know that they aren’t allowed to decide when he should or shouldn’t be sleeping.

Wow that would be infuriating. I would definitely talk to them and ask them not to go in until he cries out and is definitely awake because it’s totally normal for kiddos to wiggle around a bit in their sleep. My little guy sleeps about 15-16 hours total in a 24hr period. 12-13 overnight and then naps for about 3-4 hours total split into three naps. He’s only awake for like max two hours between naps still. As for the growth spurts I usually just notice he’s eating a bit more frequently and for longer and then I can tell he’s filling out his clothes a bit more. Maybe slightly more fussy as the time gets closer for a feed. Good luck!

Mine sleeps from 9pm till 8am, he wakes up once to eat. Then he usually sleeps 2-3 hrs during the day

Mine will nap 3 times a day. First is 1.5 -2 hours, second is 1-1.5 hours and the third is 30 min to an hour.
Bed is 630 or 7 to 7 am. Waking one to two times to eat
