Pcos and pregnant - keep taking Metformin?

Question

I’ve been on 1000 mg of Metformin for about a year and a half and am pregnant now, 5 weeks. My doctor said to discontinue taking Metformin, but I have read that it can reduce miscarriage in women with pcos. What do I do?! 😰

Mine thought I should stop taking it to but I explained to her I felt uncomfortable doing that and wanted to continue taking it. I am 35 weeks now and still on it. I got gestational diabetes so they had to increase the dosage up a bit.

I am currently 8 weeks 5 days and my primary physician left me on metformin as well. Of course I am diabetic so they also put me on insulin to bring my sugars down.

My doctor originally said to stop “because I don’t need to ovulate anymore” but I pushed back explaining my concerns over miscarriage and how studies have been showing it helps with no risk to me or baby. We ended up agreeing to keep me on it through the end of first trimester so I would just talk to your doctor about your concerns with it!

I would keep taking it to keep your hormones in balance until the placenta takes over. I took it till I was taken off of it for my glucose test.
