I'm a virgin and I want to get an IUD. Do you have any experiences and coping mechanisms you want to share?

The first time I ever got on the stirrups was to get my iud and it was when I was a virgin. I tried to get more comfortable with my body that week like sleeping naked, masturbating and just reading stories about what it would be like to get one. It kinda helped but it’s a personal experience for everyone so it’s not always the same. For me the pain was like a massive twist of my insides. They kept asking if I was alright because they could tell I was in pain. But I did not get on that table to have someone I don’t even know (now my current doc) look at my vagina with a flash light and attempt to put in an iud just for me to back out. Nope I was getting a fucking iud....and man it hurt! But I got it! I’m getting a new one soon. What I’ll do differently this time is have breakfast early in the morning but make sure I’ve definitely gone to the restroom. Enough where I’m not concerned about it while getting my iud put in. While I’m in the waiting room I will be sucking on a lollipop so I won’t crash from low blood sugar afterwards. After I get it in, I will get up SLOWLY! Hopefully this is helpful.

I got mine as a virgin, please eat in advance. The dizziness afterwards sucks, but it’s like a really bad cramp. Wasn’t the best experience but definitely bearable.

I was a virgin when I got my Paragard inserted last year. I took 3 Advil (600mg total) an hour beforehand. But my insertion went without any difficulty, it took about 2 minutes in total and I was only uncomfortable with the speculum insertion. A pinch later and kinda just laying there, my doctor and her medical assistant said they were done!

I was virgin when I got my examination for my iud. She said if I wouldn’t be able to handle a simple pap smear then I wouldn’t be able to handle the iud insertation. By the time I had gotten it inserted I had had sex maybe 3 times. I was given a pill that I inserted in my vagina 24 hours prior to the insertation that helped soften my cervix, you could ask for that.
