When to test progesterone to see if ovulating?

I have polycystic ovaries. Doctor said I could come get bloodwork to confirm if I am ovulating or not. (Not TTC yet, but what to know). They said typically you test on day 21, but my cycles are longer, 33-35days. They said come say 26-28. BUT when I’ve tested with OPKs, I get positives on day 21. Should I go in on day 21 or 26?? I don’t want to go too late and get a negative and freak out.

Here's my story from my forst and only progesterone test. Last month, December, i used ovulation tests to determine if my clomid was even working. I tested from day 10 to day 22. On days 20 and 21 I had my spike. On day 21 i also went for a blood draw because the doctor told me to. Needless to say it was .75 and thedoctor said i didnt ovulate. I called the office the next day and told them about my spike on day 20 and 21. She then told me to get another draw on say 28, my numbers were significantly higher, 8.75, and she said i did in fact ovulate. So now im just doing the LH tests and bd when we are getting spike. Hope this helps. Go on day 28.

It just needs to be around 6 dpo- 10 dpo. That’s when you get the highest reading. I had my done at 4dpo a few days ago. Incase I needed supplement.
