Ferber training

No negative comments please I've made my choice and that's that.

For those of you that have done ferber I'm looking for some input. From what I've gathered babies usually cry off and on for an hour or so and then go out for a few hours. My girl... is different. She cries, when I go in she settles and goes right to sleep for about an hour maybe 1 1/2 hours. Then cries again, 10 minute timer and I go in and settle her again and she passes back out, over and over and over again. So it's clearly not the crib she's taking issue with it's my absence. We tried last night until 1 am and I needed some sleep so we threw the towel in. Should I have continued to go in once an hour all night? Should I move her crib into my room? Anybody's babies gone thru this? It would almost be easier to have an hour of hell followed by a few hours of sleep. She'll be 6 months on the 2nd and our pediatrician has encouraged us to sleep train since 4 months
