Pacifier for breastfed baby?

2 weeks old only breastfed i have him a bottle 2 times and he was fine. Just seems like he always wants to suck on something when i give him the breast he just sucks alittle and lets it go. Hes not hungry so is it a bad idea to give him a pacifier? I didnt use it w my twins but im thinking about it this time

Just know that in the first 6 weeks baby is helping you establish a healthy milk supply. Each time you give him a bottle or soothe him with a pacifier instead of your breast, that’s time he isn’t suckling and stimulating milk production.

We gave our son a pacifier when he was 2 days old because I was exhausted from cluster feeding and he was not latching properly and my nipples were in pain. We had to supplement with formula for the first week because I wasn’t producing enough and we were still having issues with latching. Now he’s 3 weeks and I breastfeed during the day and bottle feed for night feedings. I give him a pacifier when he seems to just want to suck on something but isn’t hungry.

My six week old daughter is EBF and I gave her a paci the day we left the hospital. She takes bottles fine too. No nipple confusion whatsoever. It’s whatever works best for you and your baby in my opinion. Good luck and congrats mama!

Yep! He got one at 2 days old 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t know better so I just popped it right in. Got lucky haha. He was taking a soothe at first but started to spit it out a lot so I switched to an avent freeflow and he loves it

We use a pacifier for comfort. But my LO never fed directly from the breast. We had to pump or use nipple shield.
