Is a diaper party for a first birthday tacky?

Sidney • 23. Mommy to a beautiful little boy as of 2/8/18 💙🤱🏻 Rip Oliver, our son may never get to meet you but he’ll know who you are 2/1/18

My sons first birthday is in a couple of weeks. With him just getting a haul at Christmas I was leaning towards a diaper party.

Personally I think so. And I dont think I’d go or if I did I’d take a giftcard instead. To me it’d seem more reasonable / realistic to ask for clothes for the upcoming season, books, or experiences if its family (a lot of zoos / aquariums / museums / parks will sell tickets or similar as a gift card without being dated)

Diaper parties make way more since as a baby shower. I would find it so wierd if we got invited to a diaper party for a 1 yr old.

I don't think I have heard of this but I think I might steal it! I think it's a great idea especially if they already have books and toys. I'll only have family over. Might tell them to just get diapers of they feel like getting him a gift.

I would probably just suggest that you don’t need anymore toys. My sons turning one feb 1 and we also have plenty of toys after Xmas. Anytime a family member asks I mention we don’t need toys. Socks, new crib sheets, rain boots for this summer, etc.

I’ve been hearing about this fiver party or tener party. You send out invites and in the card you put instead of bringing a gift please put $5(fiver) or $10(tener) in the card so you can take the money and purchase a big ticket item for them. So you could use that for diapers instead.
