Uurgh - bleeding AND cramping?

Question

I'm 6w today and in 2 days was the first ultrasound to confirm heartbeat. Today had bad cramps and then a few hours later bright red blood. More than spotting but not chunky.
Praying and hoping it's normal but haven't seen posts of people that have BOTH and pregnancy carries on? If you have, please share a good story....feeling very sad of what this might be

Update - bleeding and cramping stopped so tried to stay positive. Had 6 week ultrasound today and saw the heartbeat!!! Measuring at 6w3d so right on track. Hoping it was a 1 time deal and the next few weeks if trimester 1 are smooth!!!

Hi there. At 5 1/2 w I also had pain and bright red blood. It was dripping out faster than any period I had ever had. I had to go to emerg and thought I was miscarrying. Turns out I had a very common situation called a subchorionic hematoma. Basically when the embryo implants if it doesn’t donai perfectly it creates a little blood bubble between the uterus and the embryo. Did your bleeding stop? If t wasn’t enough blood to completely fill 4 heavy pads in one hour, or one heavy pad in 15 minutes - you are probably okay. Especially if it was just blood and no clots. You should still notify your fertility specialist ASAP. The ultrasound will confirm if you still have a living embryo or not. Although at this stage it may still be too early to see a heartbeat, so don’t panic - but they could for me.
