Hello! I recently got a Mirena IUD inserted and haven’t had any issues with my strings up until now. My boyfriend and I were having sex and he said there was a sharp poking feeling from the strings and wants me to get the IUD taken out. It’s been a struggle trying to find the right birth control for my body and this one seems to be good so far but the string issue has created tension in my relationship. Do the Mirena strings soften up at all? Or should I call my doctor to get them trimmed/removed? I’m really bad at keeping up with taking pills so I really don’t want to get it removed but I don’t want this to put a strain on my relationship!
