Can I choose to have IVF for the sake of gender preference?

My first round of IVF after all the monitoring costs, medicine and egg retrieval/transfer it cost $21,000+...oh and that’s before the genetic testing to determine male or female (plus checks for chromosome anomaly). Also that’s just all for a coin flip chance that the gender embryo you want sticks and continues to develop.

You can,but it's very expensive and sometimes looked down on, so certain doctors may not do gender selection

Along with what other have said, it also depends on what country you’re in. Some countries do not allow pgs testing (required to know gender) and some countries do not allow gender selection unless there is a known sex-linked genetic disorder (like in Canada.)

On top of what everyone else is saying, there is no guarantee you will end up with even one embryo the gender that you are trying to get. Also most doctors are going to transfer the best embryo and do not even ask you for your preference. Also you might end up with he right embryo and it gets transferred and it doesn’t work.
