Should I go back on my initial decision?

Question

A family friend who has basically been my aunt since I was born is turning 65 on my due date. This is a big deal as she is a type 1 diabetic and wasn’t expected to live that long. My mother has been trying to plan a party for her to celebrate her birthday and asked her what she wanted to do. She said she wants to wait and have a combined “welcome baby” and birthday party. At my house. When the baby is 1-2 weeks old. 
I love this person and so agreed to it  to my mother without thinking, but now am questioning my decision. I don’t think I want a party of people (I still don’t know how many would be involved) in my house 1-2 weeks after the baby is born during flu season. I’m not even sure I want to go to a party 1-2 weeks post baby during flu season. 
Do I go back to my mother and tell her that actually no, I’m not comfortable with this? Or bite the bullet and let them have the party here.

There is nothing I would hate more after bringing home a newborn than to have a party at my house. I strongly suggest you either backtrack, or insist that the party be held elsewhere so you can leave when you’re ready.

Can they maybe push it out a few weeks? Or not do it at your house so you can leave if you need to?

Definitely not at your house. Have it somewhere else. 1-2 weeks after is also really soon. Our pediatrician recommended not to have our son in public until he was at least 6 weeks old (that's when we had his sip and see), and that wasn't even flu season.
I was still in a diaper about a week after birth. Honestly, it seems like it's just too much. Don't feel bad for asking to change the plans, they should be understanding.

I don’t think the party would be a huge deal but I would NOT have it at your house.

I wouldn’t! You’re going to be in pain and tired / moody people will be in your house making a mess that you aren’t going to want to deal with and possibly staying too late.. also I would get really annoyed with a bunch of people trying to touch my baby ur hormones are going to make you emotional and protective .. like others suggested having the party elsewhere so you can sneak off whenever you want sounds more ideal

I would definitely change the location. too many germs being invited in your home! I would ask to maybe change the date to the 3rd or 4th post birth. but if not then I would just keep baby strapped to you in a sling wrap the whole time. that way they can look but not touch.

It's sweet that she wants to celebrate together with you.
Maybe she is thinking she is doing this to include you, and just wants a small gathering and not an actual big party for you to be able to join in as you may not be able to get out?
Either way the good intention may be there but could you suggest an alternative venue? You may be able to nip out for an hour or two if it's super close?
My mam was 60 two weeks after my daughter arrived and we just went to a local restaurant and no party as we wasn't sure when baby would arrive and couldn't plan anything. X

You’re allowed to change your mind and don’t let anyone tell you differently. You have no clue how delivery will go, if there’ll be complications, what recovery will be like, how baby will be sleeping/eating, etc.
