Meconium in womb causes?

Question

Does anyone know what causes the baby to produce meconium so early in the womb resulting in still births?
Edit:
Some women have stillbirths due to the baby producing meconium (baby poop) and then ingesting it (i think?) And they pass. What causes the baby to produce meconium in utero because theyre not supposed to till after birth ?

I think you should change the explanation of your post. Tour leading people to believe that meconium causes stillbirth and that is false. Fetal distress of some sort causes stillbirth which may also result in a baby having a bowel movement but Meconium in the waters is NOT the cause of the stillbirth.

The baby already has meconium in his bowels close to birth. It is passed when the baby is stressed during labour.

One of my babies had a little bit of this while coming out. I was induced. I did NOTHING trying to start labor. So I think it doesnt always have to be caused by one thing. Just some babies do it the others don't. My first I was induced day after my due date and my secone was induced like a week to two weeks before due date

They believe it is caused by fetal distress which can happen before or after labor. The issue concerning the meconium is the baby breathing it after the waters break. While in the womb baby would not be breathing it but rather drinking it, which is a whole other thing. Being still birth would not be the result of baby pooping inside, rather the "distress" baby is under causing the pooping would be the cause of a stillbirth. Breathing it after birth can cause issues with the babies lungs. When my water broke with my 1st baby I was 8 cm and they noticed meconium in the waters. I assume it was due to the stress of labor, I was needing oxygen, baby was having heart rate drops etc. He ended up having some issues due to it and had to stay in the nicu for a week for help with breathing and on antibiotics etc. Out of 4 babies he was the only one of mine to be born with meconium in the waters and that was by far my most stressful labor.

Happened to me in labour, when my waters broke they were tinted brown. It just involved extra monitoring in labour and a doctor being present in case the baby had swallowed any, they manually clear the airway once born. My daughter was fine and hadn’t swallowed any. 
Still with all of that my birth was considered straight forward. 
No idea what causes it and I’ve never heard of it happening before labour

Castor oil, if the baby gets stressed out for some reason due to contractions or maybe a cord issue, babies that are over full term have that risk also
