Baby has RSV 😔

Courtney

Clementine came down with a cold last Tuesday night and Wednesday she started running a fever. She was super congested had some coughing but she wasn't wheezing or showing signs of distress so I didn't think anything of it. We gave her some baby tylenol and it helped lower her temperature but Thursday morning it spiked right back up. We made an appointment to see her doctor and she tested positive for RSV.

Unfortunately there is no medicine for it and the doctor said we would just have to wait it out. They told us everything to look out for (tightening in her ribs while she breathes, flaring nostrils, etc.) So needless to say she hasn't left my side.

Seeing her in pain is gut wrenching. I've never felt more helpless in my life. Our days have been round the clock taking her temperature, spraying saline and sucking out her nose, warm baths, vapor rub, filling the humidifier and comforting her. The only thing that seems to do it when she's upset is cuddling with my boob. She looks so peaceful I can't say no.

Her Dad does a really good job of keeping her happy and distracted when she's not too crabby.

At 11 weeks old I never expected to already be taking care of a sick baby. I still haven't even gotten the hang of taking care of a healthy one! She's such a trooper though.
