When are you starting maternity leave?

I live in Canada so I get 12 months at 55% of my earnings. I’m almost 35 weeks now and my hips are giving me so much pain that work makes me want to cry. What are you ladies planning?

I live in the US and am still very comfortable so I’m working up until labor, but if I had 12 months off I would probably go out before labor if I were uncomfortable!

I live in Vermont and am a teacher . I get 12 weeks FMLA but only paid for the sick time I’ve accrued. I began a new job this year and will only be paid for 5 days! (I have to save my others). I will work until my due date.

Im working right up to whatever day I go into labor and will probably go back to work a month or so later since I don’t have any paid maternity leave I did the same with my first daughter, My husband gets 5 months paid paternity leave this time though so that’s super nice since not a lot of companies in the US seem to do that his work gives the same leave for moms and dads

I’m in California so we get different benefits but my dr wrote me out at 36 weeks, standard protocol for him. I didn’t think I was ready to leave my super easy accommodates position but am soooooo glad he did. I am able to prep for baby but space thingsnout, not cram it all into a week or two. My car ended up taking a poop so I was able to take care of that. I do have lots of down time but I take that to rest, loom, catch up on shows, and just relax before baby comes. I’m 37 1/2 weeks now and enjoying my time so far

I’m in Canada too. I started sick leave at 29 weeks, I was in so much pain doing my job.

I've been on sick leave since 28 weeks because of preterm labour so my maternity leave will start as soon as I have baby or on my due date, whichever comes first. We qualify for 15 weeks of sick leave paid at 55% and then a year of maternity leave. With my last baby I went off work at 23 weeks so I ran out of sick leave and had to start my maternity leave a few days before I had her.

Started mine at 34 weeks but wish I had waited an extra 2 weeks. We thought all was well and ran into financial issues a week or so back and now I'm looking at having to try and go back to work at 2-4 weeks PP 🙁
