Tips to “tame” fine baby hair?

so my 18mo has fine, wavy hair. It looks nice when he comes out of the bath and it’s kinda slicked back, but once it dries it looks crazy! I do like his hair long, but I’m always tempted to cut those ends off (even though I really don’t want to). Any tips? Or products? No man buns or ponytails for us please😂. Thanks!
