Road trip with infant?

I'm expecting my first baby in April and need some roadtrip advice.  My husband and I really love to road trip together and while I'm on maternity leave were thought it would be fun to road trip to Glacier National Park.  It would be like a 16 hour drive there plus all of the driving around once there.  
Is it crazy to think about doing that with an infant? If you have road tripped with an infant before do you have any tips or ideal age of the baby that you would recommend?

Yes, definitely sounds like too much. Babies can’t spend all day every day in their car seat. They need a break at least every 2 hours and there’s only so many 2 hour stretches you can do in one day. Extended periods in their seat not only puts them at risk for positional asphyxiation, but is also bad for their developing spines.

I took my daughter to FL at 2 months recently and it was a 14 hour drive. We stopped every 3 hours and stayed in a hotel overnight. It was extremely hard and took us two days to get there. I don’t recommend it. Also, my cousin took her baby to FL as a newborn for vacation and he ended up with meningitis bc he wasn’t able to get vaccinated yet.

Hi Katrina, yes we did a road trip when our son was 6 weeks old from our home in San Francisco to my parents place in Laguna Beach. But we stopped along the way, spending one night in Paso Robles and one night in Malibu to break up the journey for our baby. Frequent stops (every 2-3 hours) for feedings and changing and getting them out of that position are very important. 
It was easy when he was 6-8 weeks but the last road trip we did at 7 months was rough as he got bored and frustrated with being in his car seat that long so the ease of the trip will probably be contingent on how old your baby is at that time and how much you stop along the way. It’s also helpful to keep your baby’s bedtime routine the same even on the road (as much as you can). Good luck!

I wouldnt do anything that far until 6m + personally. We did 9 hours at 8 months and even that was tough
