Beginning of menopause?

I’m 44 and am currently 12 days late for my period. Usually I’m a bit early if anything so wondering if this could be an indication of peri menopause starting. I keep thinking I’ve started but it’s always normal clear thin discharge. How long should I wait to go to the doctor?

I think 12 days late is good enough to visit a doctor if you are generally regular.

If I remember correctly an indicator of Pre menopause is 5 late periods in your mid-to-late 40’s.

Technically your in menopause when you’ve been without a period for 1 full year and it can start and stop and make your period irregular for 5-10 years before that. I would say that 12 days late is a one off but if you continue having an irregular period for the next 6 months then go into your gyno and get a hormone panel done to see where you’re at follicle wise. There’s nothing they can do for it except maybe do some HRT to relieve symptoms.

My mum’s first signs were late periods, she’s always been regular. She also found they became a bit lighter too. Always worth checking with a doctor ☺️
