To long between scans!!!?

I had my last ultrasound at 8 weeks. Everything was good. I figured I would have another one sometime soon. I’m 12 weeks they told me today when I came in they won’t do another scan until I’m 20 weeks!!!!! I don’t want to wait that long until another scan!! What can I do to get another scan soon than that?!
UPDATE: thank y’all for all the help! I have found a place locally that’s cheap and will do a scan! I have set up my appointment already for when I’m 16 weeks so 4 weeks from now. So hopefully we can find out the gender a little earlier than my anatomy scan!!!:)

That’s the standard schedule. Ultrasounds that are not medically indicated are not recommended because they can cause false alarms for things that aren’t really a problem. If you’re low risk, which is what you want, you’ll get only 2-3 ultrasounds in a pregnancy.

Pay out of pocket for another one or go to an elective ultrasound place. Most insurances don’t cover the cost unless they’re the normal scheduled ones or you’re high risk.

That’s pretty normal. You’ll usually only get one at 8-12 weeks, one around 20 weeks and then that’s it... unless you’re high risk.

Just keep in mind that a lot of ultrasounds can effect the baby, my MIL has three kids with hearing issues from a lot of ultrasounds.  But I totally get where you are coming from, I’m at 9 weeks and am having my first US soon and I am so anxious!

I pod for a private scan at a 3D/4D place. And even found out the gender! They let you know as early as 13 weeks

That’s how I felt! I got one at nine weeks and knew I wouldn’t get one til I was almost 20 weeks so I paid for en elective one at 14 weeks. I get my anatomy scan today and then I think they do another 3D type one in between 32-36 weeks.

My OB does one at 8 wks, 20 wks, and 36 wks for low risk, non complicated pregnancies, and that's pretty standard. I paid for one out of pocket at 14 wks to find out the gender.

That's how my old OB was. I had a scan at 5 to confirm then 8 for the heart beat. I went in for my 12 and never got one, just the heart beat. I'm 16 weeks now transferring to a new OB and am hoping for an ultrasound for my 17 weeks
