The pus doesn’t. I would clean it with a q tip and some sterile water and then alcohol.. but if the pus continues or it gets red/ tender to touch, baby should be seen.

Both my kids had this and with my first I got super worried about it and took him to the hospital lol they said it was normal and to just make sure you clean it with a qtip and water maybe even a drop of alcohol on a qtip

My sons came off at 2weeks old and looks gooey on the inside too i just wipe with an alcohol wipe, watch for redness which would indicate an infection

I was told 1-2 little drops of blood and even some small amounts of pus that ooze from it are okay. A foul smelling odor is not. Looks good to me but if you do notice a smell to it, call the pediatrician.
