Please be considerate on the roads
I hope this is the right group, but something happened tonight that was irritating.
I was driving down a narrow road at night tonight, the roads were dry but there was snow on the side. I was doing 30 in a 45 and some guy thought it would be a good idea to get right on my tail and flash his lights at me. This wasn’t a long road either, we were at the next light within a few minutes for him to pass/turn. Only about 5 minutes later I was on another road that people notoriously speed on, I was going the speed limit (35) and another asshole got right behind me, enough that I couldn’t see them in my rear view mirrors.
Guys, please don’t do this. A year and a half ago I was in a bad car accident with my fiancé. It was just our car, he had lost control and it spun off the road and flipped. I was physically okay (I shouldn’t have been) but mentally I’ve always had bad anxiety driving since then, especially on narrow dark roads like I was tonight. It gets even worse when there’s snow/rain. I’m also 16 weeks pregnant so I take further precaution.
So just please before you decide to be an asshole, consider that there’s a reason why they’re driving slow. They might not have anxiety like me, maybe they are just a new driver, or have their kid in the car. Just don’t be a dick. It makes my anxiety worse when people tail me because then I worry about possibly losing control of my car and/or the asshole behind me causing an accident, or me being distracted and rear-ending someone. The list could go on.
Again, just please be considerate. It isn’t going to kill you to wait a few minutes to get to a passing point, and in some cases being an asshole can put others in danger.
Edit: just to be clear, we were expecting ice which was part of the reason I was driving slow and this was a side road. I also know it’s dangerous to drive under the speed limit. I normally don’t, I avoid driving in conditions I know make me anxious. In this particular case, the street I was driving on was literally 5 minutes from one light to the next, it would not have killed this dude to drive slower for a few minutes. And in the second case, I WAS driving the speed limit.
