This situation just came up, figured I’d see if anyone else has been in this situation and what you did.

I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid in a family wedding in 1.5 years, however my SO and I are currently TTC (they just decided the wedding dates today, didn’t know prior to then). The wedding will be at an all inclusive in the Caribbean where Zika continues to be an issue. We haven’t announced that we’re trying to our families and don’t want to.

The deposit (if we want to book with the group rate) is due in a month and full amount 6 months before the trip (we wouldn’t be able to get any of our money back if we couldn’t go, even if we bought insurance, as Zika falls in the “pre-existing condition” type clause, and having a newborn baby or continuing to try aren’t sufficient reasons, as the travel agent just explained to me).

Evidently, it’s impossible to know if we will still be TTC, pregnant or ideally already have a little one by then (which is a whole other concern... has anyone ever done all inclusives in the Caribbean’s with their first child being only a few months old?).

What would you do? Or what have you done in this situation? 😣
