Did your Dr ever ask you if you were willing to terminate if there were multiple (maybe more then two?)

I’m looking for a dr for IVF if we decide that’s the route for us. I’m reading the reviews and this is one of them. I really liked this DR until I read that. It said “he wanted to put more then one embryo in but asked if I was willing to terminate if they all stuck” I’m assuming it was more then two but it didn’t say an amount in the review. Is this normal for drs to ask or should I just start looking for another place?

This is a common question when there’s the chance that 3 or more can stick. In rare cases they will put 3 embryos in or 2 and one splits. Multiples, even twins, carry huge medical costs and worse medical risks when there’s more than 2 there’s a lower chance of the pregnancy making it to term and miscarriage. My dr was pretty adamant he did not want us to try for twins, but he was okay if they split and occurred.

They can’t make you do anything, and first of all in ivf you have to have a successful cycle and get a healthy egg then a healthy embryo and actually get pregnant w a baby before you can make these decisions. You are putting the horse way ahead of the carriage. Your are lucky if you even get pregnant or get twins so don’t over think it and sign the papers they just make u sign these papers to cover there asses in case anything happens. Good luck.

My clinic won’t even put in more than one unless you are over 37 or have had multiple failed transfers.

This question was on one of the forms we signed at our ivf office.  I think it's something normal that they ask.
