child care worker opinions

S . • ♏️❣️

hey y’all ! so a little background, i’m currently going to school to get my bachelors in childhood education & I want to be a kindergarten teacher. but I have an interview tomorrow at a daycare working with 2 year olds and I’m a bit nervous. I just wanted to know your opinions on child care teachers with tattoos. I have a half sleeve on one arm and a forearm tattoo on the other, and a lily on my boob area (only seen in low cut tops). I just wanted to know how y’all would feel about someone with visible tattoos teaching your child.

That would have no bearing on my confidence in my childcare worker. I’m more interested in how they interact with my baby and what their qualifications are

Would not bother me. My husband and I are both tattooed. A tattoo does not affect how you take care of a child.

I wouldn’t care at all and honestly a lot of my fellow teachers had tattoos. It’s becoming a lot less of stigma lately, thankfully. As long as they’re taking care of my kid idc that they have ink (within reason)

I don’t care at all if someone has tattoos, it has no bearing on your ability to teach and care for my kid. My mom works in an elementary school and we were talking about this last night, she said at least half the teachers there have arm tattoos and their principal has full sleeves (and he doesn’t usually cover them). My mom works in a pretty rural, conservative area too.

I have no tattoos but I would never judge my child’s teacher based on their tattoos! (: as long as they are trashy lol

It really has to do with the company and their policy or the school district. Here some school districts will make you cover tattoos while a work.

My daughters caregiver (and my coworker) has many tattoos. No problems at all. Even my director has tattoos all exposed.

I asked that question straight up at my daycare interview, what the policy was and my boss said as long as they weren't inappropriate it was fine. my kids loved my tattoos and most the parents had them too so it didn't matter. what's on my skin didn't effect the way performed

It wouldn’t bother me at all. This might be dependent on the area you’re living and he place you are hoping to be hired at, though. Good luck! Try not to be nervous!
