My boyfriend is a great guy. He’s super caring and sweet, he’s good at his job and he’s successful. However, I have one tiny problem with his personality. He expects everything to go his way.

For example, right now he’s furiously typing away a threatening email to our previous apartment complex. They’re charging us $1800 for carpet replacement and cleaning fees. Our dog DID destroy a lot of the carpet (mostly in the entry and on stairs). So I’d be fine paying for that. It’s our fault it’s ruined. I get having to pay a few cleaning fees, it’s whatever to me. Most apartments ALWAYS fine you for something after you move out. Especially if you have pets.

His dads a lawyer and anytime anything didn’t go his way there, he’s threaten to “bring his attorney into this”. And now he’s saying we will “bring this to small claims court if need be.”

I don’t understand why he can’t be accountable? It’s only $1800 and most places don’t require full payment upfront. We make decent money between the two of us.

Am I wrong to be frustrated by his lack of personal accountability? I just think it would be so much more mature to own up to the fact that our pets ruined the carpet. I do disagree with the “your apartment needed a HEAVY cleaning” thing because we cleaned it pretty thoroughly. I spent about two days cleaning it. But the apartment we had prior in the same place, we deep cleaned so much they actually said it wasn’t necessary and they clean all apartments regardless.

Anyways, mostly a rant, but I also want others take on this. I’m not saying much to him, I’ll let him do his thing, but I just know that if he keeps running to daddy, once his dad is gone for good he won’t know how to handle situations responsibly on his own...
