My birth story!
Hello mamas, it's been a little over a week but I just wanted to share my birth story. So 2 days before I had my son I was having contractions off and on. They were irregular and would come and go for hours at a time. I was due January 13th so I was tracking my contractions because my due date was approaching closely! On the 9th I noticed a piece of my plug came out as I was wiping after I went poop.. sorry tmi lol. All throughout that day my contractions were still irregular but very uncomfortable. The next day I was still losing my plug and contractions were the same. On the 11th, I had my last doctor's appointment, and my contractions were starting to be regular and painful. I arrived at my appointment and the nurse asked if I was having contractions, I said yes. She put me in a room and my doctor came in. She checked me and I was 3 cm! Woohoo! So me and my boyfriend went to grab a sandwich at Jimmy John's while I could still eat. After that we went to my mom's house to drop some of my daughter's things off since she was going to watch her while we were in the hospital. My mom suggests that me and my boyfriend take our daughter for a walk in the neighborhood to move things along. Off we go and we walked for about 20 minutes. Mind you, I was still having contractions all throughout this day. I don't know how I was managing through the pain but I did it! We came back from our walk and decided we would head to hospital because I had probably dilated more by now. It was 5pm. My boyfriend stops at Walmart to pee and I wait in the car for him, we leave and I'm not even kidding as soon as we took off I got a really strong contraction and my water broke! It felt so gross and weird but at the same time it relieved all the pressure I was feeling. My boyfriend starts speeding off to the hospital which is only 5 minutes away lol. We arrive at the hospital and they check me in. Contractions getting closer and more painful and I want my epidural. They check me and I'm at a 4.5-5. I'm sent to my labor room and the anesthesiologist gives me my epidural. Whew, no more pain. It's now about 7pm. My boyfriend and I get comfortable and prepare for our son's arrival. He starts to tell me he's a little nervous and he can't believe that he's coming already. It's about 9 PM now and I start feeling my contractions slightly. I let my nurse know and she says I can administer pain meds upon my liking if I really needed them. They didn't work so I let her know again, she says okay the epidural works with gravity so let's flip you over on your other side. I'm not kidding you within an hour I started to feel the urge to poop. I told my nurse, she checked me and I'm at a 9! She said that all I needed was to flip over and baby started to move down the birth canal. Within the next 30 minutes it was time to push! I did a few practice pushes and then when my son's head started to crown the doctor came in. With my daughter I couldn't feel anything except pressure when pushing but with this labor I felt some pain and I especially felt it when his head was coming out! I pushed for about 10 minutes and Abel Isaac was born! No stitches no tears!
He was 7 pounds 13 ozs and 19 inches long born at 12:43 AM on January 12! Thank you for reading!
