Pacifiers??

Question

I know they say to wait 4 weeks to introduce a pacifier.. but my baby is 10 days old being breastfed and I think we have the latch down. Should I hold off on introducing one? I don't want to hurt our breastfeeding routine. Any tips/advice?

We gave our son a pacifier when he was born and he was fine with it and breastfeeding as well

It’s not only about the latch. It’s recommended not to give pacifiers or bottles for the first 6 weeks. All the sucking the baby does should be on your breast to stimulate milk supply. On average it takes 6 weeks for your milk supply to be stable . However, every baby and situation is different! I waited just in case but she hates pacifiers !!!! And I wish she would take it! She took it one time int the car and it helped so much instead of me pulling over to hold her ! 
This information is suggested by the la leche league and lactation consultants about the 6 week wait.

Honestly it’s up to you I was told to wait 4weeks for a bottle and a paci but I feel like when you wait that long they don’t want it. My son refused a pacifier and a bottle after weeks he got used to me I became the pacifier but I also have a friend she just had her baby New Years and she breast feed and pops a pacifier in his mouth and he had no problem latching.

I introduced paci right away with mine! She latched like a pro though from the beginning and the only trouble I have had was days 2 and 3 she was so sleepy and I wasn’t producing enough colostrum to satisfy her so she wasn’t latching well. We supplemented formula for two days and once my milk came in have had no issues. And the paci is nice because it comforts her without her being at my boob 24/7!

Used a binky from day one, bottles and boobs and didn't have any issues with my little one. Go for it.

I was hoping to wait too but they gave it to my son in the NICU right after birth so he wouldn't cry and worsen his breathing. He's used it ever since and is a month old. He never had any issues with latch or breastfeeding. He doesn't need it all the time but it's definitely a lifesaver when he's fussy. You gotta do what you gotta do 🤷
