If both people are working should bills be split 50/50?

Im watching a tv show called married at first sight and they’re disagreeing because the woman thinks it’s a mans job to cover more of the bills no matter what. She said it should be split 70/30 with the woman paying less because it’s traditional gender roles. I think married couples should share funds. What do you think?

There is no mine or his. We have a joint account that all money goes into. If we wanna buy something for ourselves we just ask the other person if it’s over 50.00.

I watched THIS too and what bothered me is that neither one of them knows who makes more.  If he is making $50 an hour and she is making $25 there is no way that things should be 50/50.  They should only be 50/50 if they have a similar wage.

Said no because if there is an income difference then it should not be 50/50, but I DO agree that couples should split the bills fairly. If one person has a better job/has higher income, they pay a little bit more, but not because of gender roles!

We don’t split anything. We share. He makes double what I do but both our checks get into the same account. We calculated how much we make together and I then subtract to cover our bills (rent, car payment, insurance, etc), we put some money in savings and give ourselves a monthly budget with the remaining amount.

Right now my husband is the primary income source and whatever I get from working part time I help with groceries, baby clothes and things for my self/ gifts for hubby. When i start working it’s going to continue to go into our shared account. Don’t really care about how it gets split up, it’s our money.

I believe if the couple makes around the same about of money yes. 50 50. But if one person clearly makes less I think that person should pay 30/50
