People asking if our pregnancy was “planned”

Laura

Does anyone else find it insanely rude to have someone ask if your pregnancy was planned? It’s problematic on so many levels!

If it wasn’t, what do they expect you to say? Just because a pregnancy wasn’t planned doesn’t mean you aren’t excited or won’t be a good mom. And if it was planned, it feels like they’re alluding to the idea that you’re not in the right place and are surprised you’re having a baby. Also, is our sex life/family planning really information you have a right to?

When people ask if our pregnancy was planned (it was) I always want to respond with “yes this is a baby I have dreamed about my whole life. We have insanely good insurance, we both have jobs that we love/make good money at. We’re happily married and own our home. We’re responsible, loving adults who have prayed for this baby but if there are any other qualifiers you think we don’t meet in order to be parents, I’d like to invite you to kindly fuck off.” Honestly, one day with these pregnancy hormones, I might just say it 🤣

Anyone else experiencing this?!?! How do you respond?
