When do you think is the right age for a child to start showering/bathing alone

maria

I’m not sure this is controversial but I’m just curious because my sister who is 11 recently started showering on her own and I feel like that’s a bit late

My sister was kinda little for her age but before my sis started showering on her own my mom just used to check on her to make sure she washed her hair properly and handed her the towel she didn’t fully bathe her

Honestly it depends, some children physically can't, some mentally can't. Children with disabilities won't be the same as a child without so there's no 'right' age

Not a parent. But I started bathing along when I was in 3rd grade and my younger sister was in kindergarten. I still called my mom into the bathroom to check if I had the soap out of my hair and for a towel or whatever. But I washed myself.I didn't start showering until I was going into 6th grade 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think until they’re able to properly wash their head & body properly. Maybe like 5/6 ish?

I think 10 is a good age and just pop in and see if they are doing ok and have everything they need. I don’t want them fall or drown so I will always pop in see if they are ok..

My 5 year old just needs help with the hair. I'm assuming she will be able to do it on her own within a couple years. I remember being 4-5 and showering on my own.

My child isnt old enough for me to have a parents perspective but I dont ever remember my parents helping me bathe so Id have to say 4/5. My younger sister had lots of surgeries though so it took her till probably 10 or 11 to bathe on her own.

Personally at 11 I was embarrassed if my mom came in like I would be like MOM! GET OUT! But that’s just me lol. My little sister is 6 and she usually likes me to come in a check her hair or play “mcdonald’s” on the shower doors. Sometimes I go in with her and my daughter (we have a big shower) but for the most part she likes to shower alone. But whatever age they feel comfortable showering alone is what should happen in my opinion
