Any other moms already teaching their babies sign language???

I’m hell bent on my son learning ASL and I’ve started signing when I talk to him. Am i crazy for starting this early? Lol

I've been signing since she was able to start focusing on my hand motions. Usually I'll do the sign for eat and sometimes she'll do it back. It's not the same motion exactly, of course, but she does bring her hand to her mouth in a quick motion and puts it down again so I know she's not doing it to chew on her hand. Both of my parents are deaf and I grew up around a lot of deaf people so she'll grow up learning ASL so she can better interact with her grandparents and be able to interact well with other deaf people she might come across in her life. It's a great skill to learn and is especially beneficial to infant development.

Sign language is amazing! Keep doing it, babies can learn it so fast you’ll be amazed! Simple signs to start- such as “milk”, “more”, “all done”, “please”. 😊

You have 2 different questions but  I answered yes I'm going to teach my baby sign.  Some babies can learn simple signs at 6 months but others may not have the hand control until 8/9 months to sign back. You can start signing whenever you feel baby is ready.  It won't hurt to do it this early. I don't remember when I started with my son. We only did the basic ones like more, up, done, please and thank you.  (He had words for food, milk,etc already down.)  The day I taught him thank you was the same exact day he said it. Literally said it before signing it. 😂

I’m starting him in baby sign language at the library on Monday 😃. I’m so excited. I’m sure he’ll sit and stare and chew on his hands but eventually he’ll get something out of it haha

Yes I am. The book I bought says you can start now, you just shouldn’t expect them to sign back until 6 months at the earliest. We use the milk sign regularly, but it’s the only one we’ve started.
