Natural Family Planning?

Amanda • 29. Florida. Married. Mom to a sweet baby boy!

Does anyone do it? If so, how does it work after giving birth? My husband and I are waiting until I’m cleared to have sex but we do natural family planning for religious and health reasons.

You should purchase the book “taking charge of your fertility”. I had bought it when we were trying to conceive for months and you seriously learn sooooo much about your body and being in tune with understand signs your body gives you regarding your fertility. There is also a ton in there about tracking ovulation naturally and using it as a birth control. I highly recommend it for every woman regarding of whether trying to conceive or not.

Right after baby is tough because you won’t know when you ovulate unless you experience mittelshmerz (but even that can change after a baby). You could use OPKs, but the easiest way to get back on track is to wait for your first period. Then you can start BBT charting, monitoring CM, and using OPKs or whatever you were doing before.

It’s just hard to wait for my period lol husband and I are anxious already. Looks like I’ll have to wait to get a period before we can start having fun again.

I think this is what I want to do ! I tracked my ovulation while trying to get pregnant so I'm just going to do that and avoid my ovulation week. That and condoms! I think its totally possible. Most people assume your being stupid but I think that's ridiculous

That’s exactly what people say when they ask about my birth control method. I like being aware of my body and knowing the signs of ovulation. I use a monitor and it helped me get pregnant.

My doctor said it does not work because cycles can be erratic. She said to use condoms or a backup method

This is what my husband and I did for the last three years out of the 8 we’ve been married. I’m a bit nervous to do NFP again after birth because periods aren’t reliable for a while. We will use condoms along with NFP because I’ve done the birth control thing for 10 years and know my body doesn’t respond well. I don’t want to go back to being a psychotic b*tch if I can help it 😂😂😂. We technically want two children anyway and I’m 30, so WORST CASE scenario, if I do get pregnant again, we did want another child 😂

My husband and I have always done it successfully. We are going to continue doing the same thing after I’m cleared for sex, but we are going to have to use more OPKs to begin with since I don’t have a reference point (period).

I use a fertility monitor but since I won’t have a period I don’t know if I can continue using the monitor and have it be accurate.
