Queso during pregnancy?

I’ve heard you can or can’t have queso???

Pregnant Texans wouldn’t exist if they had to give up queso! So long as they use pasteurized cheese you’re fine.

Unpasteurized cheese is actually really rare in the US. You’d have to work pretty hard to even find it. That being said, I went to Europe during my first pregnancy and ate a good amount of unpasteurized cheese. They deal with it regularly so I figured the chance that it had listeria was very low. Listeria is not common and just because you eat unpasteurized cheese doesn’t mean you’ll get it. I found the risk to be so small that I didn’t care or do anything to try and prevent it. (Ate cold lunch meat, unpasteurized cheese, etc). I skipped bean sprouts because of listeria risks, but I don’t like those very much to begin with. You might think that the risk is unacceptable and don’t eat any foods you think are risky. Also totally acceptable decision.

I asked my doctor and she said yes you can have that. It’s the feta and non pasteurized

At a Mexican restaurant? Ask them to check the package. 
In the United States, all cheese must be pasteurized to be sold in stores... including the soft cheeses. Just check the label if you’re concerned.
