Memorial tree?

I was thinking about planting a tree in honor of my angel baby. Has any done this and if so what kinda tree did you plant?

I bought a butterfly plaque at our local parks Butterfly Garden. The children gather in the butterfly garden to read books over the summer. The butterflies are for families to honor the babies and children they have lost.

I wanted to do this after my miscarriage but I have the worst luck taking care of plants and I’d obviously be devastated if it didn’t make it. After an afternoon of googling I ended up buying a small Jizo statue, here’s some info I copied from an article online.
Jizo has many functions and duties, but most important of them all is that acts a protector of children and unborn children who died before their parents. According to Japanese Buddhist stories, children who face judgement in the afterlife are doomed to stack rocks on the riverbed of souls in purgatory because they didn't have a chance to build up good karma on earth. Jizo helps these children to cross the river in the sleeves of his robe.
It is a small statue with a sweet smile and the story about him sneaking the children in his sleeves just made me feel better somehow. 
If we had done the tree we would have probably done something that would bloom in April which is when our due date was.

We are doing a memorial tree through the city we live in with some of our daughter's ashes buried with it. The city plants and takes care of it.we upgraded to a bronze plaque and her tree faces the lake. Sunrise and sunset are visible. When we were looking at locations two parks it was freezing rain that came out of nowhere. The third on our list it was beautiful and sunny. Late october butterflies were hovering where we wanted to plant the tree until we said it, butterflies were there. We decided on an oak tree. Beautiful and strong. Its a beautiful park overlooking the lake.

We were sent a cedar tree and we planted it in our yard near a place where we plan to plant roses and tiger lilies for our daughter

I have a cherry tree I planted. It flowers in spring and in a few years will also make fruit. It’s outside my kitchen window so I see it every day.
