So my boyfriend and I had a fight, and I’m fully willing to admit I had acted inappropriately, and I was in the wrong to an extent, but he has a habit of ridiculing me, mocking me and laughing at me when we’re having serious conversations. I let him know it’s something that bothers me, and he turns it around as if I’m telling him to change who he is.

Today, the fight ended with me walking away as he was laughing at me. Then he took the bottle of pop in his pocket and smashed it on the ground, and started screaming the word fuck in the middle of the road.

After we had taken some breathing space, and I had told him what he had done hurt me, he told me I was making him feel ashamed about his anger. I didn’t think I was shaming him, I had just told him how he had acted inappropriately, and how it made me feel.

What do I do in this situation? The sarcasm is frequent, but he’s never gotten angry like that at me before.
