We went to a house showing with our realtor and there was a terrible smell as soon as we walked in. Like dog but a lot worse. I wasn’t interested in the house at all anymore but walked around hunting for the source of the smell because it was so disgusting. It was stronger in one area and I tracked it down to a tiny door under the staircase. I opened it and was greeted with the most horrific stench of my life. They had obviously cleaned the house in advance but there was a large dog bed that barely fit in there and it’s clear a large dog has been forced to live there (and probably ends up using the bathroom in there because it has no choice, hence the smell). It was an extremely tiny, cramped space with no ventilation, no windows, and nothing else. We kinda just stared in shock for a while and didn’t know what to say. Our realtor was pretty horrified as well and she called it a “Harry Potter” situation. I don’t know why you’d get a dog if you’re going to treat it that poorly. They could easily get a crate if they wanted to keep him confined.
