Should I be getting my IUD placement checked?

I got my IUD placed over a year ago and I haven’t had any issues with it at all besides heavy periods. Should I have it checked routinely by my OB? This is the first time I’ve ever had an IUD and I honestly don’t remember what the recommendation was.

I have an IUD and I get mine checked yearly at my annual Pap smear appointment. It’s good to do a string check every now and again yourself, but have your doctor check it out at least once a year. They do move sometimes, and it can cause lots of issues if it does move. It’s rare, but it is always good to get it checked at least once a year! 😊
